Haven of Love Dog Rescue is dedicated
to being a Haven for dogs in crisis in our and surrounding communities regardless of breed, age, or physical condition. To rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving forever homes for these abused, abandoned, and unwanted dogs. Working together with other rescues and outreach and consulting with animal welfare professionals using current accepted practices to ensure healthy dogs through education, advocacy and affordable services, and working to foster a community where the animal-human bond is celebrated and nurtured.

MEET FAYGO
WE HONESTLY DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY WE CAN’T FIND A FOSTER FOR FAYGO.
He is a sweet, happy, incredibly dog-friendly 7-month-old puppy—yet he is still sitting in boarding because we haven’t found anyone who meets his one tiny need: a fully fenced yard.
The boarding staff says even dogs who normally aren’t very dog-friendly will play with Faygo. That is how special this little boy is. He brings out the playful side in everyone he meets. He has friends there—but he still doesn’t have a home.
And that is heartbreaking.
Faygo is just a puppy. He needs a fenced yard where he can stretch those growing legs, run, play and burn off all that puppy energy. He should be chasing toys across the grass, learning a family’s routine, following his people from room to room and falling asleep knowing he belongs somewhere.
Boarding can keep him safe, but it cannot give him all the experiences a puppy needs to grow into an amazing family dog.
Instead, another day passes. Then another. And this sweet baby is still waiting.

MEET LOUISE
Louise is a 2-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix with the sweetest heart you’ll ever meet. Weighing just around 32 pounds, she’s the perfect compact size for adventures, snuggles, and everything in between.
Louise’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. She was found wandering with another dog, heartbreakingly thin and covered in fly strike wounds on her ears and head. Despite everything she endured, Louise never lost her faith in people. From the moment she was rescued, she welcomed kindness with a wagging tail and a hopeful heart.
Today, Louise is healthy, happy, and ready to start the next chapter of her life.
She is potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, rides well in the car, and loves being around people. Louise has a calm, affectionate personality and is happiest when she’s soaking up attention from her favorite humans.
Louise would do best as the only dog in the home. While she is not dog aggressive, she prefers not to share her space with other dogs for extended periods. We believe she’ll thrive in a home where she can be the center of someone’s world and never have to compete for love or attention again. She has not yet been cat tested.
Louise is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and will be spayed before adoption.

MEET COOPER
SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE COOPER’S WHOLE WORLD. HE JUST HASN’T MET THEM YET.
Cooper isn’t the puppy throwing himself into the arms of every stranger yelling, “NEW MOM?! NEW DAD?!”
He has standards, people.
He’d like to observe you first.
Maybe accept a treat or two.
Consult with the resident dog.
Make sure you seem trustworthy.
And THEN… the wiggle starts.
Cooper is a 10-month-old pittie mix with the sweetest soul, but he is still shy and skittish with people.
And the biggest thing Cooper needs from his forever family is actually pretty simple:
Go at HIS pace.
Don’t reach for him because you want a cuddle.
Don’t push him because you want him to trust you faster.
Give him space. Sit nearby. Toss him a treat. Let him watch you.
Let Cooper be the one to come to YOU.
Because he will.
And every time he makes that choice on his own, his confidence grows a little more.
A friendly, confident dog sibling would be AMAZING for him. Cooper loves other dogs, and having a furry buddy around to play with—and show him “Dude, these humans are actually pretty great”—would help him tremendously.

MEET STARLING
STARLING DOESN’T NEED THE MOST APPLICATIONS—SHE NEEDS THE ONE RIGHT APPLICATION.
Starling has already been dumped in Rouge Park and returned twice.
This sweet girl has experienced the joy of leaving a kennel, entering a home and beginning to believe she finally belonged—only to find herself starting over again.
We cannot allow her next placement to be another temporary chapter.
Starling needs more than a family who thinks she is beautiful. She needs a family whose experience, lifestyle, expectations and commitment truly match the dog she is.
Starling is a young Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix with all the intelligence, energy and drive that come with a working breed. She needs to move her body, engage her brilliant mind and interact meaningfully with her people every single day.
She is affectionate, playful and extremely people-oriented. She is also enthusiastic! Starling jumps when she gets excited, gives very energetic greetings and is still learning her manners.
She will not enter a new home knowing every rule immediately. Her family must be prepared to teach her with patience, repetition, structure and positive training—not become discouraged because she is still learning.
STARLING’S FOREVER-HOME REQUIREMENTS ARE CRITICAL:
- Approximately 1–2 years old
- Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix
- Extremely intelligent and HIGH energy
- Potty trained
- Up to date on vaccines
- Dog friendly with proper introductions
- Children must be 12 or older because of her enthusiastic greetings
- ABSOLUTELY NO CATS
- A fully fenced yard is REQUIRED
- Must have an active home
- Requires consistent training, guidance and structure
- Needs significant physical exercise every day
- Needs daily mental stimulation, challenges and interaction
- Should not routinely spend an entire workday crated
- Working-breed experience is strongly preferred
- Haven will complete her remaining vetting and spay
The right person will see Starling’s excited jumping and think, “We can work on that.”
They will see her energy and think, “Let’s get moving.”
They will see her intelligence and think, “I can’t wait to discover everything you can learn.”
Starling has incredible potential for obedience work, tricks, hiking, running, puzzles, games and other activities that challenge both her body and her mind. Once her energy has been used productively, her loving and affectionate side shines through.
Please apply only if you have carefully considered every requirement and are prepared to make a lifelong commitment—even through the adjustment period, the training and the moments when she still needs guidance.

MEET GILLY
WHAT ARE WE MISSING HERE?!
Seriously.
Usually when we get a breed that you just don’t normally see sitting in rescue, we brace ourselves for the flood of applications. Twenty amazing homes. Everyone wanting the same dog. Us stressing over which incredible family is the absolute best fit.
And then there’s Gilly.
He’s had a few applications… but not the kind of pile we expected.
So now we have questions.
Are people actually reading his posts?!
Did everyone somehow scroll past the part where he is a 6-month-old Doberman puppy?
Did you miss the part where he is sweet, goofy, smart, affectionate, hilarious, dog-friendly, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines?
And maybe most importantly…
HAVE YOU STOPPED SCROLLING LONG ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY LOOK AT HIM?!
Because COME ON.

Gilly is not just handsome. He is an absolutely amazing puppy with a huge personality and a huge future ahead of him.
He is looking for an active home, someone with Doberman or similar breed experience, and a fully fenced yard. He loves other dogs, and cats are unknown.
He is also still a baby. A big baby, yes. Around 50 lbs already, and he absolutely has more growing to do.
So Doberman people… where are you?!
We really thought we’d be drowning in applications for this boy.
Instead, Gilly is still sitting here being adorable, brilliant, sweet and completely entertaining while we wonder how everyone hasn’t lost their minds over him yet.

I’m about 8 months old, incredibly smart, and I’ve been told I have “a lot of personality.” Personally, I think everyone else is just a little boring.
I know how to play fetch (which apparently makes me some kind of feline genius), I love toys, and I always have important opinions to share. If you’re looking for a quiet cat that blends into the background, I respectfully suggest you keep scrolling.
Now, before you get the wrong idea, I’m not a Velcro cat. I’m not going to spend every waking moment in your lap. But I am going to be your shadow. Cooking dinner? I’m there. Watching TV? I’m supervising. Working from home? I’ll be conducting quality control.
I get along with cats and dogs too—just give me a little time to make sure they’re worthy of my friendship.

At approximately 3 months old, Havoc is still very reserved and scared. She isn’t the kitten who will immediately demand attention or confidently explore every corner—but that doesn’t mean she has any less love to give.
